Blog 10: English language challenges

Imagen
Hi all! Today is my last post blog. It's very sad because is the end of a experience at university. Well I'm going to talk about learning English and the use of blogs. My experience in this class was very good. I'm so happy and proud because I learning a lot during this semester. It has been six good months. I think I now speak and understand a little more than at the beginning of classes. I'm very grateful with the teacher Benjy Alaluf. He has a lot of patience and uses good teaching methods. I liked the contents of the classes very much. We saw good movies. Many related to politics. For example the Irish films  "The Wind That Shakes The Barley" and "Jimmy's Hall Review" . We also saw very interesting videos on YouTube. The teacher used technology to teach. That is very remarkable. Also the content of the classes was related to Journalism. The teachers made a good selection of contents. The use of blogs was good. It's not...

Blog 9: Changes to my study programme

Imagen
Hi everyone!  Today it is very hot. I don't like coming to university when the weather is like this. But in a few weeks the holidays will come haha. In this post I'm going to write about some changes that could be made in my study programme. Unfortunately the curriculum is old. It doesn't fit the current times that journalism lives. The subjects are varied but do not contribute in the formation of future journalists. They recently changed it, but our generation didn't have to experience the changes. I think the new one is much more specialized. I would have liked to have economics subjects, laws and more English classes. I would also like to learn more languages like French or German. When I was a child, I learned a little German but over the years I forgot. The lenght of studies in Journalism is too long We have many subjects that don't contribute in anything. With three or four years it would be fine. I think the university wants to keep tak...

Blog 8: Summer Vacation (Holidays)

Imagen
Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well. Today I'm going to write about my summer vacation plans.  Well, this has been a very busy year. In the first past of the year, I did my practise in Radio ADN. It was from January to July. It was a good experience, which helped me to know how the media works. In the second part of this 2017, I dedicated myself to go to university. The semester was difficult but so far it has been good. It's less than a month before this academic year ends. Next year will be the last. So it will be very special. My intention is to travel to Los Angeles, in the south of the country, to be with my family and my friends. I don't see them much because of the distance. I always try to be with them at Christmas and New Year. I think the important dates are to be with the people that one loves the most. In the rest of my summer vacation, I want to work to save money. It's not in my plans to travel outside of Los Angeles or out of Chile ...

Blog 7: My favorite character

Imagen
Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well. Today we are going to talk about our favorite character.  Well, in my case I will talk about my favorite character of Peaky Blinders's series! His name is Thomas Shelby, but h is real name is Cillian Murphy.  Cillian Murphy is the same actor who plays in "The Wind That Shakes The Barley" and "Jimmy's Hall Review". We've seen it a lot. Much more than some classmates in English classes hahahah. "Tommy" is the leader of the Birmingham criminal gang Peaky Blinders and the patriarch of the Shelby Family. His experiences during and after the First World War have left him desillusioned and determined to move his family up in the world.  The serie is about criminals, weapons, horses and gangs! Despite being a criminal, Thomas takes care of his family. It's interesting to know these characters that have a good and a bad side. The people identify with them. Something similar happens with ...

Blog 6: Postgraduate Studies

Imagen
Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well. Today I'm going to talk about a postgraduate course that I would consider taking in the future. First, in my case, I must finish my undergraduate course in Universidad de Chile: Journalism. Then I would like to do a literature course. I really like reading. My grandmother taught me how important reading is. I started reading only sports books, but now I'm a fan of novels and chronicles. The Polish reporter  Ryszard Kapuściński is one of my favorites. In any case, I want to study in Mexico. In Mexico City. After reading The Savage Detectives of the Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño  I decided to go there. That book made me crazy. Arturo Belano and Ulised Lima are two great characters. His love for poetry and his adventures are extraordinary. Bolaño also lived there for a while. In one of his books, he talked about his love for the city's sunset. Besides, I admire the Mexicans a lot. I lo...

Blog 5: My future job

Imagen
Hi everybody! I hope you had a great weekend! Today I'm going to talk about my future job. Since I was a little boy, I used to play with a ball everyday. It was something that I really loved. That's why I decided to study journalism. I want to do something related to the sport. As time went by my fanaticism grew bigger, I just wanted to play and watch football all the time. In the summer, I worked on a radio. Radio ADN. It was a great experience. I went to the sports section. I met journalists with a lot of experience like Danilo Diaz, Juan Cristobal Guarello, Cristian Arcos, Rodrigo Hernandez, Victor Cruces, Diego Saez and anothers. But in that place, I can say that I didn’t really find the happiness that I was looking for. I want to dedicate myself to football every moment of the day. For this reason, once I finished my degree, I will take a course to became a football coach. Salary is important, but I think being happy is better. I don't know if in the future I will ...

Blog 4: Jimmy´s Hall Review

Imagen
Hi all! It's a pleasure for me read this post for you... I didn't like the movie. It was too long and boring. Also, it was similar to the one we saw last week. It seems that Ken Loach loves the Irish people because this movie is about the same as The Wind That Shakes the Barley. But is good that he made films about political and social conflicts. I prefer that before love movies or Disney movies hahahahah. My favorite character was Jimmy Gralton. He returned from the United States to help his family and his community. I liked his revolutionary spirit. He was not afraid to face against the Government and the Catholic Church. He was a social leader. I wish I could march next to him in the Alameda for a real public education for our country. My favorite scene was when Jimmy's mother pretended to lose the key for Jimmy's escape. He was brilliant and very intelligent. It made me laugh to see the cops coming out  trought the window. After watching the fil...
